I run leadership development and coaching programmes to help managers and team leads grow as leaders, adapt to the new challenge of managing direct reports alongside their individual contributor (IC) work, and understand how to manage 'upwards' more effectively.


Alongside my private 1-1 coaching practice, I’m an executive/leadership coach for multiple VC firms' portfolio companies, as well as the in-house Team Lead Development Coach at Field Energy (Series C).

what got you here won't get you there

2 hard truths:
 

  1. New managers: the skills that got you promoted won't help you excel in a managerial role.

  2. Experienced managers: the managerial skills that made you great at your previous role may not translate to your new role. (They may even be a liability - believe me, I've seen this in action.)


In fact, a Gallup study found that companies fail to choose the managerial candidate with the right talent for the job 82% of the time!

This is a triple-loss scenario:

 

  • Your confidence & self-efficacy as a manager diminishes.

  • Your team's engagement & retention decreases.

  • The organisational bottom-line plummets.

 

The bad news: In a start-up or scale-up, poor middle-management can be fatal. Operating with limited runway is challenging enough as it is, let alone having to deal with declines in team performance due to poor communication, mismanaged workloads, and unclear delegation.
 

The good news: Becoming a high-performing leader is trainable - and it can be a deeply fulfilling journey, both professionally & personally.

  • Private 1-1 coaching with managers & executives to create sustainable high-performance as they transition into new roles, organisations & stages of life. (esp. those with complex personal life situations).

No two managerial roles are the same. I don't do cookie-cutter programmes.

How to work with me

Our first step is a short meeting or call to see if we're a good fit.

 

In this meeting, we'll clarify what your tailored programme could look like in terms of:

  • Workshops and 1-1 coaching

  • F2F vs Remote sessions (vs Hybrid)

  • What ROI you expect from coaching

In terms of funding, we have several options:

  1. VC-Driven: Some VCs will subsidise/cover the costs for leadership development as your organisation scales. 

  2. Organisationally-Driven: We can create a programme that fits within your company's training/coaching budget.

  3. Individually-Driven: You can allocate a portion of your annual L&D budget to coaching sessions.
